Artist statement
Susana Harris creates both mobile and statuary sculptures using found organic materials such as bamboo and grasses together with watercolors on rice paper, gold leaf and a variety of paints and finishes. In this time of precarious balance between man and nature and the extinction of animal and insect populations on our planet, she produces these ethereal pieces to explore the interplay between manmade environments and the natural world. Sometimes whimsical, sometimes sacred they remind us of the mystery and fragility of our planet earth.
”With these mobiles and sculptures I hope to entice the viewer into a private interaction with the piece and a personal moment with the magic of nature”
